Almost Maine

DRAMA

DATES:  Oct 25-30, 2021
TIME:  7:00pm
LOCATION:  AHS Little Theater

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Welcome Back

AUGUST 2021

Dear Performing Arts Families,

While LPIE provides funding within the classroom, APAB helps sustain a high quality performing arts education via funding and volunteer support for enrichment activities outside the classroom. APAB is a parent-led 501(c)(3) organization with individual boards for Choral, Drama and Instrumental Music that collectively work together. A few examples of areas your APAB donations support are listed here:

  • DRAMA:  costumes, props, set and publicity materials for our two annual major drama productions; parent volunteering provides crucial support for show operations.

  • CHORAL:  transportation to choral festivals, student scholarships for tours, workshops; parent volunteers provide logistical support for choral concerts and other events.

  • INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC:  transportation and other support for music festivals, tours, clinics and community events, various need-based scholarships; parents provide volunteer support for all events and activities including fall, winter and spring performances.

  • ANNUAL SPRING MUSICAL:  All elements of this collaborative effort between Choral, Drama and Instrumental Music are fully supported by APAB.

For a preliminary Performing Arts 2021-22 calendar, see the dates listed on this page.

As we move into the new school year, we’d also like to share a few highlights with you…

  • As long as local health guidance continues to allow, all our 2021-22 Instrumental Music Concerts, Choral and Drama events will be in person!

  • Thanks to your generous contributions, we’re very excited to confirm the Performing Arts Center lighting upgrades will be installed and utilized for the first time this year!

Your commitment to supporting the performing arts at Acalanes in all its forms is greatly appreciated! Warm regards and best wishes for a wonderful year,

Pauline Proffett, Instrumental Music VP and
Mary Beth Towery, Dramatic Arts VP
